Maserati Levante is the company's first SUV and it is hitting the market this year. It is really the best luxury performance SUV and a worthy competitor to the Cayenne.

According to Business Insider, Maserati Levante has an aggressive design and it is based on the Ghibli and Quattroporte sedans. At the front of the car, a big spacey grill is seen where one can see right through the fins. This might bother some people but the overall design is aggressive while still maintaining the essential look of other Maserati's cars.

From the rear, there is a giant hatch with a lot of cargo space inside as well as 4 pipes exhaust system. The center of gravity is low although the car maintains a strong road presence. On the side, there are three ventilation ports which are, a standard for all Maseratis. The steering is hydraulic with 2 paddle shifters on each side. Shifting the paddles is crisp and quick. The wheel has a great feel and on the road, the steering tightens up and gets heavier as driver picks up speed. There are plenty of seat options and they're roomy in both front and the back.

The interior is a work of art, with beautiful leather and great looking dash highlighted by a beautiful analog clock, Waterloo Chronicle reported. Maserati Levante comes with 3.0 twin turbo V6 engine, and on the road the perfect 50/50 weight distribution is evident. The SUV feels much lighter than 2,113 kilograms.

The Levante is a great performer on both on road and off road. The suspension smoothes out the drive and adds ride height if needed. The Levante went 0-100kmh in 5.7 seconds and 80-120 in 4.2 during AJAC testing. That is pretty quick for an SUV. The breaking distance from 100kmh in AJAC testing is 39,4 meter. Maserati has made a beautiful package, but with all the competition in the luxury SUV market, Levante has to work hard to come on top.
